Frequently asked questions I get… I’ll just answer this stuff here a little bit. It’s called a FAaaaaaAAAACk
Q: How did you get your job?
A: I’ve known Pen through the internet since I was in highschool… in highschool i did journal comics, and he did ‘em too. I was a huge fan of his stuff… and we emailed back and forth while he was in Cal Arts. He was workin on getting adventure time picked up, and asked me if i’d take a test to see if I could work on the crew. A test for animation… is just a small packet of work to see if you draw the way they want or write the way they want or… whateverrrrr. I got really lucky and they hired me while i was still in school. And then i moved to California. I’ve been out here for a year or so now.
Q: How do I get a job to work at CN?
A: i’m not a hundred percent sure on how to do this… you can apply for an internship if you’re still in school though, on the Turner Jobs website.
Q: Where did you go to school?
A: I didn’t go to a real art school… I went to University of Arizona in Tucson, because i wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with myself… my dad is a crazy smart programmer/engineer… and even though he wasn’t totally against me going into art… he warned me to approach it more like a hobby, because it’s not the most stable career choice… anyway, so i wussed out and went to a state college… i wish i hadn’t though… sometimes… ehhh i probably would have hated art school… i’ve got a bad fuckin attitude…
Q: What do you use to draw?
At work, I have photoshop and a Cintiq tablet, and I use a brush Phil modified to draw.
Q: Is Pancake a girl or boy? Where did you get her?
A: PANCAKE IS A GIRL. she is the light of my life. An awesome girl named AMBER drove all the way to burbank to give her to me when she was a tiny baby.
Q: Why is fionna older than finn, why is cake a cat, why is fionna more detailed than finn, etc. etc. why aren’t the characters more exact gender bends, why isn’t there a lumpy space prince or hot dog prince, why is the ice queen hot
A: The Genderbend stuff i did at first wasn’t for work. I did them in my spare time, so i got to do whatever the fuck I wanted to do, and i didn’t feel like drawing every single adventure time character, i just wanted to draw the ones I wanted, and how I wanted. And I wanted to draw a cute, chubby girl in a bunny hat, and a super sexy ice queen. because why not? I wasn’t getting paid to do it, so i did whatever I felt like doing at the time.
